There are just some truths in life that you have to accept. Water is wet, tea is better when it’s sweet, and Kentucky summers are HOT. Whenever you have young kids, you unfortunately cannot just pause their endless energy whenever the temperatures are too high for you to function. You need a spot where they can run around and release it while staying cool. This is where a splash park is going to become your absolute bestie. As a Louisville photographer, I have gotten the chance to chat with tons of parents who have found splash pads they have adored. So, grab your swimming suit and some SPF 50 because I am about to tell you about the best splash parks around Louisville, KY!
Enjoy Some Outdoor Fun With These Refreshing Splash Parks In Louisville, KY
Waterfront Park
129 River Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40202
Waterfront Park is a gorgeous spot that really does have something for everyone! This park offers open fields, beautiful views, outdoor play equipment, and numerous playgrounds. On the cooler days, older kids can climb up several stories and slide down the cabin. Meanwhile, tots can play around on miniature equipment built just for them. The splash park is the place to be once the temps heat up! They turn on the water mid-morning and give your child tons of ways to play. There are huge stairs nearby, so you can sit outside of the fountains and watch them. Once they are done, you can head to the nearby playground and let them dry off.
Louisville Zoo
1100 Trevilian Way, Louisville, Kentucky 40213
The Louisville Zoo is always a great destination when you have younger kids. My suggestion for parents is to either ask for a membership for Christmas or gift one to your child for a birthday. With their membership, you can drop by at any point, enjoy some free parking, and visit the animals before spending some time cooling off at the splash park. This adorable place has been designed to look like a pirate ship. The ground is textured, so you don’t have to worry about any slips. Your child can spend some time chilling out before it is time to check out a few more animals. And while membership is never a bad idea, you are able to access this area for free with any zoo admission.
Skyview Park
2700 Watterson Trail, Jeffersontown, Kentucky 40299
If you are looking for a smaller neighborhood place, Skyview Park is going to be your park. This charming space has baseball diamonds, regular playgrounds, and a splash park where your child can cool off. This space has several hoops outfitted with jets that your child can race through. There are also flowers that spray water onto the kids beneath. Right next to the area, you will have a shaded pavilion where you can hang out with your child still in sight.
